
DVM (Emergency/Soft Tissue & Orthopedic Surgery)
In 1996, Dr. Siddharth Ranade earned his Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Fergusson College, University of Poona in India. He then continued with graduate studies at the Bryamjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College and Sassoon General Hospitals, Poona, India. Relocating to the United States in 1998, Dr. Ranade attended Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine as a PhD candidate in Biomedical Sciences prior to enrolling in Ross University College of Veterinary Medicine. His extensive educational background truly paid off in 2005 once he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University. While attending Ross University, Dr. Ranade completed his clinical year at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as a course in wildlife rehabilitation and relocation in South Africa with Dr. Cobus Raath (2004).
Upon graduation, Dr. Ranade completed a year of soft tissue and orthopedic surgical training in 2006 followed by an internship in 2007 at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists (now Blue Pearl) in Manhattan, New York City, studying small animal medicine, emergency critical care, and surgery. In 2013, Dr. Ranade completed an additional year of specialty training with a Small Animal Surgery and Critical Care internship at the Veterinary Specialists of South Florida (now Leader), where he had the opportunity to work as a primary surgeon. This internship was focused on emergency critical care medicine, emergency surgery and advanced elective orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Ranade has rounded out his career with several practices in Manhattan, the Bronx, as well as in Florida on the west coast between 2007-2012. Dr. Ranade donates his time by working as a remote consultant for several veterinary hospitals in Poona, India.
During his trips back to India he consults with the hospital and patients directly, practicing small animal medicine, general, orthopedic and trauma surgery. Dr. Ranade is Licensed in New York and Florida and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. He has been published in the Journal of American Veterinary Medical Association. He keeps up with his continued education by attending the yearly VMX, International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Symposium and advanced orthopedic conferences ( American College of Veterinary Surgeons & hands on orthopedic surgery training at the Nexus Veterinary Specialists).
Dr. Ranade's passion is identifying causes of pain, lameness, joint incongruity and orthopedic surgery. His interests include emergency and soft tissue/trauma surgery. He has been a member of the Calusa family for over 10 years and plays an important central role as the hospitalist and surgeon of Calusa. Dr. Sid Ranade resides in South Florida with his family. He has a lovely 75 pound golden doodle "Rex". His favorite hobbies are outdoor activities, hiking, cooking, reading, gardening, carpentry, playing tennis, martial arts, swimming, skiing and he loves visiting the mountains. He loves spending time with his family cookouts, outdoor activities, soccer games and travel.
