DVM
Dr. Margaret Johnson is a DVM at Calusa Veterinary Center! Dr. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Science from Old Dominion University in 1991 and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. Dr. Johnson began working in the veterinary field in 1987 as a kennel assistant and bather and worked her way up to where she is today. Dr. Johnson began working with animals when she was 10 years old, primarily working with horses and cattle. In college, Dr. Johnson worked in the farrowing house of a swine research center, thinking that she wanted to be a large animal veterinarian. However, when she attended veterinary school and volunteered in the ICU, Dr. Johnson found her true calling.
According to Dr. Johnson, the best part about working in the veterinary field is finding ways to improve the lives of other sentient beings on this Earth. Dr. Johnson finds great joy and fulfillment when she can help an animal by relieving their pain and improving their overall health. Dr. Johnson grew up in a military family, so she has lived all over the United States, primarily on the East Coast, and now resides in Florida. In her free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys going to the ocean, gardening, diving, boating, and spending time with her two children and six grandchildren.
