Dr. Andrew Turkell

DVM, CVA, CCRT, CHT-V

After graduating with his DVM from Araneta University in Manila, Republic of the Philippines in 1979, Dr. Turkell moved to South Florida in 1980, where he acquired Lake Worth Animal Hospital. During his subsequent early career, he opened Boynton Beach Animal Hospital, Calusa Animal Hospital, and Island Animal Hospital. He is now Partner/Medical Director of Calusa Veterinary Center in Boca Raton, Florida - a state-of-the-art General/Emergency/Specialty Practice with allopathic and holistic care as well as hosting a 24/7 emergency room, referral specialty center and critical care unit.

He is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), IVECC's (International Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Symposium), American Holistic Veterinary Association, IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society) and is also certified in canine rehabilitation therapy (CCRT), veterinary acupuncture (CVA) veterinary hyperbarics (CHTV).

Dr. Turkell lives in Boca Raton, Florida with his wife Penny, an interior designer, whom he thanks for making Calusa Veterinary Center the warm, friendly, and beautiful hospital that it is. Also in residence are their 2 red poodle's Rosie Bunny and Teddy Bear who bring joy, love, and laughter to their home.

Dr. Turkell was awarded the prestigious "Ba' Alei Haim" or "Keepers of Life Award" In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the care of companion animals and his commitment to The Koret School of Veterinary Medicine at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.  He shared the stage on April 6, 2008 at the Palm Beach Convention Center's "Paws for a Cause" with over 300 guests, 125 canine companions and National Geographic’s own Cesar Milan and helped the American Friends of The Hebrew University raise almost $200,000 for the Veterinary school in Jerusalem.
